TEAM INDIA BAGS SILVER IN KARATE

Mumbai : Team India of KWF karate under astute leadership of Shihan Sachin Chavan, won a silver medal at the 7th KWF world karate championships held recently in Chitose city of Hokkaido region in Japan.

The event hosted by the Karatenomichi World Federation International headquarters in Japan, commenced with a Karate world conference in budo karate and its detailed technicalities conducted by the legendary karate Master Shihan Mikio Yahara – 8th degree black belt and Shihan Malcolm Dorfman – 8th degree black belt who organised the referee seminar in Japan.

Our team India participated with 11 members out of which 1 participant Aditya Prakash Bhosale won a silver medal for the country in the Boys Individual Kata for under 18 yrs age category amidst 56 member countries and 23 participating countries globally.

The Indian team had been thoroughly trained under the watchful supervision of its mentor and coach Sachin Chavan who is a 6th degree black belt in KWF karate from Japan and an Asian Karate Federation qualified judge.

He is amongst one of the top examiners, referees and instructors in the art of Budo karate in the world. Four of the participants from team India made it to the semi-finals at the 7th KWF World Karate Championships which has indeed brought a huge laurel & pride for our nation which is now ranked 5th globally.

The participants for the international event were as follows: Aditya Bhosale, Nehal Chavan, Dhruv Hathalia, Pranay Manoj, Vandan Bakshi, Siddharth Desai, Bhaas Thakur, Keith Kelly, Kairav Chavan, Sachin Chavan (Chief Coach) and Milind Thakur (team manager).
